An Eruv is a ritual enclosure that communities build in their neighborhoods to permit Jewish residents or visitors to carry certain objects (food, keys, strollers, gifts) outside their own homes on Shabbat and Yom Kippur. The Nashville Eruv was established in 2006, a year after Rabbi Saul Strosberg joined Sherith Israel. Since then, it has been expanded to bring more Shomer Shabbat families inside its boundaries. The Eruv has been down only once since its inception.
